Nutrient-rich currents and volcanic seascapes create one of the region’s most biodiverse marine environments. Expect steep reef walls, thriving coral reefs, black-sand muck slopes, and dynamic currents that attract both macro life and pelagic surprises. The region is also a seasonal migration corridor for blue whales.

Alor’s diving is broadly divided into two distinct regions—Kalabahi Bay, known for its black sand muck dives and exceptional macro life, and the Pantar Strait, where vibrant coral reefs and dense fish life create dramatic wide-angle scenes. The deep waters of Kalabahi Bay (over 200m) even attract whales on occasion, adding to its uniqueness. As a private group, dive sites are thoughtfully selected based on diver preferences, whether macro-focused or seeking larger marine life, in close coordination with experienced local guides. Macro diving remains excellent year-round, while August to September offers increased chances of pelagic encounters like mola mola and hammerheads, making it an ideal window to experience the best of both worlds.

Founder's Note
Hello, I am Nishi and I’m a SCUBA diver, freediver, and entrepreneur. I used to be a data scientist but the call of Mother Ocean is bigger than us all. Few key life events and hours of introspection led me to quit the corporate world and I found myself sitting on the beach with a life jacket (yes, I did not know how to swim back then)! Over the last few years I’ve been grateful to have the opportunity to launch and grow our Maldives vertical, Mad over Maldives. Me and my team are humbled by the love and support we’ve received from our wonderful customers. Oceaon is now expanding boundaries and I am elated to host you in iconic dive destinations across the world.
