Hamna is a Maldivian dive instructor, shark researcher, and co-founder of Miyaru Maldives. As the first female shark guide from Fuvahmulah, she has spent years underwater — guiding divers and studying sharks with a deep commitment to conservation. Growing up in Fuvahmulah, Hamna’s access to the ocean was limited by cultural and safety barriers. She discovered diving later in life — a transformative journey that helped her heal and sparked a lifelong mission to protect marine life and empower Maldivian women in the ocean space. Today, Hamna champions ethical tourism, ocean education, and inclusive opportunities for women in diving and research — guided by values of equity, community, and conservation.
