Blue Whale Migration
A Seasonal Phenomenon in Alor
Alor lies along a migration corridor for blue whales, with movements linked to tidal flows and nutrient-rich upwellings in the Pantar Strait. These conditions support high plankton productivity and a dynamic pelagic ecosystem.
Sightings are most common between May and November. We’ve chosen October for its cooler, current-driven waters and strong overall diving conditions — with the possibility of blue whale encounters from the boat or near the resort.
